“I wasn’t in the mood to be solved.”
The ending of this book blew my mind. I had to process this before being able to write this review.
Lowen Ashleigh is a struggling writer. She’s been served an eviction notice, her love life is nonexistent, and she might as well not even have a job. The royalties from her last book are running out when she gets the deal of a lifetime. Co-write for a well-known author under a pen name, with a huge payout? Who wouldn’t go for it? She travels to the author’s home to look at notes and do some research. Never did she think she’d find the love of her life… in a married man. Not only that but in the author’s files is a chilling autobiography. What really happened the day her daughter died?
This is my second CoHo book, the first being Reminders of Him. I read both in a single day. While I also ran my children to the doctor, cleaned my home and cooked dinner. That’s just how good she is!
This book was jaw-droppingly astonishing. There were intense moments, suspenseful moments, and have I mentioned the spice yet? I’m pretty sure I’ve got heartburn from those scenes! I loved watching Lowen’s character evolve. I found myself questioning her sanity trying to figure out the ending. I never could have guessed it.
The autobiography is so dark and twisted. I can’t imagine how those things are thought up. I loved every second of it.
I’d suggest this to anyone who loves a good, slow-paced thriller. Bordering on horror with some of these heart-stopping scenes, I’ll give it a five out of five.
