“There are people who find peace in forgiveness, and then there are others who look at forgiveness as a betrayal.”
This book hits deep. Especially reading it as a mother. We follow the story of Kenna, whose boyfriend died in a horrific car accident. Pleading guilty to involuntary manslaughter, Kenna spends five years in prison. While there, she learns she’s pregnant with her late boyfriend’s child. Due to the length of her sentence, the child is automatically removed and sent to her late boyfriend’s parents. Upon release, Kenna is back in town and determined to be in her daughter’s life.
The depth of this story is unlike any I’ve read before. I absolutely loved Kenna’s character. The letters were amazing to watch unfold, and Ledger’s character also had significant evolutions.
This was the first Colleen Hoover book I’ve read, and I have to say she knocked it out of the park.
I’d suggest this book to anyone who likes a quick, deep reads with elements that will leave you tearing up with everything from sadness to sentimentality. I give it five out of five stars.
