I have never felt more satisfied with the ending of a book.
I loved the change in point of view. And Nesta’s story? Amazing.
In this fourth novel in the A Court of Thorns and Roses series, we begin to read from Nesta and Cassian’s points of view. The book is the story of Nesta, and if you aren’t interested in that, don’t bother reading it. Nesta and Cassian are forced into close quarters due to their respective positions in the Night Court. The fire between them is undeniable, but will Nesta allow Cassian to get close? With her general coldness and emotional brutality, we see the true reasoning behind Nesta’s personality. As another conflict with the queens becomes apparent, Nesta and Cassian must face physical and mental monsters. What do the queens want now? Can they be stopped? And what will become of Cassian and Nesta’s undying passion?
Once again, as I’ve said in almost every Maas review, I loved everything about this book. I love Nesta’s redemption arc. I love their passion. I love the spice. I love the internal monologues and how things slowly change throughout the story.
Without revealing much, the only thing I would change is adding a little more action. While we focused on Nesta’s story, the world outside was on pause. Though this book differs from the others, I recommend reading it. It is very different, and you may be disappointed if you savor the action scenes.
Though this book is different from the others, I still recommend reading it. It is very, very different and if you savor the action scenes, you may be left disappointed.
Five out of five stars.
